It is carnival in Tuban

As like every year
it is time for carnival in town.

Even after so long time, I spend here in Tuban I still surprised and wondering about that tradition. It is the same as in Germany, uncountable people waiting beside the road for the carnival parade. The people indeed come mostly fr0m Tuban but also from the villages around the town. It seems to be really a highlight for everyone around today’s early afternoon in Tuban. So many people sitting on the curbs, on the walkway and wherever a bit of free space is. The roadsides are completely occupied.

Even I’m very early it is difficult for me to find a good place for watching the parade. Finally, I found a place where I got a nice view. However, it is already afternoon and the heat of the day is at the peak. I hope the crowds of people and the heat of the afternoon to overcome. It is a persistent shove back and forth of the people.

Carnival seems to be a worldwide thing. Even in South East Asia people celebrating the fun. Colourfully dressed people in an endless parade queue fill the roads and move down the roads.

Starting from Alun Alun to the end of town, the parade route is probably 3 km long. What I miss during the parade are the princess and the price couple. But I saw a lot of couples in front of some carriages probably imitating the princess and prince.

My favourite theme was the tribe from Kalimantan.  I really impressed by the well-prepared costumes. The Kalimantan style is a bit different from the other themes but that is what I like. The music is surprisingly very widespread. From traditional gamelan until modern dubstep. Every style of music sounds out of the loudspeakers.
